Have you ever thought about how your faculty reads your mind? Be it the excuses for bunk or your ultimate wish to represent your institute in the science fair. Teachers always get that right! They have this magical ability to capture the imagination of learners through interesting, relevant and challenging activities. You must have never seen your faculty being unfair to its students. Remember how the bright students in the school are made to sit with the notorious ones? Teachers always try to ensure that all learners are involved in their teachings and each student contributes in some or the other way to the class and the subject.

You may get scolded but you know at last you will be helped out of sympathy. Well, this is the fun part of the story but the fact is their time management ensures content is delivered and learners have sufficient time to complete tasks.

“Please take care of my child, you can scold him whenever necessary, but bring him on right track”. From the parents of a kindergartener to the parents of a college student, this line is a connection between the teacher and the parents. Parents trust the faculties for their child’s progress, attainment and behavior. And the faculties have always proven this faith, from Dronacharya to your high school teacher, the faculty is always approachable and willing to listen and offer advice and support wherever necessary.

Stand by you

They always stand by your side. They encourage all learners to perform to the best of their ability at all times. Promote a positive “can do” attitude where learners are willing to “have a go” and aren’t afraid of making mistakes. There is a saying in Hindi “Guru gobind dohu khade kake lagun paye, balihari guru aapne, gobind diyo bataye”. It means that if I had god on one side and my guru on the other, I will definitely bow my teacher first because they showed me the path to reach God. This might sound dramatic at first but is somewhere very true.

They never ask you to stop questioning yourself or stop being curious. They always make sure that they are able to deliver quality content and explain “why”. You may stop researching on a topic after your graduation but they always keep reading and researching new things. They better prepare themselves to field questions that learners ask. They always try to level up their standards and try to teach more challenging content in a very easy way.

Open to change

Have you ever observed your teacher trying to reflect on teaching and learning and be willing to adapt your style? The faculty always are open to change, they try using pupil voice to drive change. They keep up with the latest technology and changes in education policy. This is how they establish a positive working relationship with learners where they feel safe, secure and respected. Respecting the views and opinions of the learners and devote time to listen to them is one of their qualities that depicts this. They act on their student’s feedback and provide them with the best possible education for them to succeed and also find out what makes them click. They build a relationship of mutual trust.
